Hello all, I got out with Sentinel this weekend for 3 days of hard core, relentless relic hunting. Day one started at a Virgin site. We dug a "ton" of great relics. I dug a partial eagle button and a few coat and cuff disabled CW veterans buttons. I dug about eight three ringers. Unfortunately I put the pics of that day on a different camera. Day 2 we hit a colonial site where the house was built in 1747 and 1600 acres of land. This day the finds were few as the guy that took us there was showing us the lay of the land. My finds that day were a nice colonial Dandy button and and colonial pinky thimble. Day 3 we went back to the virgin site. I was planning on leaving to go home around 12 or 1 o'clock. YEAH right!. About 12:15 I got a good signal with a hint of iron and decided to dig it anyway. In the bottom of the hole layin face up I could see a BEAUTIFUL "S" staring at me!!!! I knew imediately what it was. I pulled it out and had a great US PLATE in my hand. I quickly called Josh over. He said "whatcha git?" I didnt want to yell out, where we were at as he was about 40-50 yds away. Just gave him a two thumbs up and waved him over. When he got there my adrenaline was going 10,000 MPH. Hands shakin and all. We then discovered that is was a US Box Plate. MAN O DAY!. What an intense feeling. Needless to say I had to stay a lil longer. I dug a few more buttons a clay pipe bowl and a stem. Finally was lookin for 1 more bullet before I called it. I guess it was bout 2:30 and I dug one more three ringer. There is ALOT in the finds pics that I did not mention. My wife called and asked how it was goin. All I could think of was the Priest in "Caddy Shack". "Im having the game of my life " and held my detector in the air but it was a clear sunny day. I was TRULY a dream hunt this weekend.

Couple more pics added.

Great finds! Congrats on the box plate. Nice of Josh to put you on some good spots

Man! The famous US plate! I am still waiting to discover one.... VERY NICE

Thanx for the replies all, Theres much more tosay. I got a tent tensioner there and that gilted dandy is AMAZING. It appears to have gilt on the back also which Josh has never seen the back gilted also. Its just simply TOO much to list. I think the Riker Box says it all.

Great Hunt Getty. Nice Job on the box plate. It looks to be in pretty nice condition.

I noticed a little link to a chain in the lower right. Do you know anything about it? I dug the same style chain about 2 weeks ago and can't find any info on it.

I have been waiting for this post!!!Heard scattered details, and am not let down!!!Awesome finds man!!!

No I do not, Ive seen similar on old and modern items. I was just kinda hopin it might be a link to a pocket watch from that era.

I've not posted my finds yet either Kuger...they're still to come, probably tomorrow. 8) Roger, it was my pleasure to take you out this weekend. Virgin Civil War sites are ALWAYS a good

time and I'm glad you got your first U.S. Plate while digging with me this weekend. I won't ever get that image of your hands shaking out of my head, that's what its all about!

Shakin aint the word for that buddy! It was an awesome weekend and we gotta hit that colonial site alot harder with less walkin than we did. We can definately do better to just git out there on our own. I think James showed us enough for now. Thanx again Josh.

Oh yeah, I could tell by the expression of joy on your face that it was a plate ;D I actually said walking over "Whatcha Git.....You got a Plate didn't ya".... After the plate I dug a couple days prior, I knew that there was bound to be another.

Great hunt and finds! HH

I can't see it too well in the photo, but could it be a link from a nipple protector? Congratulations on some GREAT finds!

On the link, I don't know anything about it, but it looks identical to the one on the lid to my canteen I bought back when I used to do living history stuff, not that that is a positive ID...

Are you guys in a club together? Know eachother off the forum? Or get together on here? I would love to get out and do some hunting, and am in the same general area as you all. Not that I want to horn in, but if I can, I will. :tongue3:

Congrats on that box plate! I found a chest plate a few weeks ago in Annapolis, and it was the most exciting thing I have ever found with my detector! Now I need to get a box plate to go with it... :headbang:
