Posted this in ID my finds too....

So I went out last week and went to a old park in our local area. Went after work (getting dark)and found a couple 40's wheat cents some clad then this fork about 4 inches down.. I threw it in my bag and did not even think about it till I emptied my bag this morning. Mainly did not think too much about it since you find new and old stuff there. I thought it was a regular fork at the time since it was actually after dark when I found it and never really inspected it. Well upon further inspection it is silver and engraved. 5-6-97 and initials and design on the front.

I search j. jorgenson 830 and can not find anything on it. I find j. JorgenSEN from norway though..lol Makes me think it is maybe 1897 not 1997

If you know anything about this let me know.. thanks

Definitely pre 1920 as that is when the Norwegians started making .925 silver as opposed to the .830 silver. So I would surmise your gorgeous fork is indeed from 1897 and not 1997. Great find!

Engraving style definitely 1897 era.

That's a big Ole chunk of silver, beautiful

WOW, I love it, just beautiful.
Great save, now go back and find the rest of the set.

Great looking silver fork, and having the date on it really is nice as most have just the maker and a monogram and it's left the exact dating between periods. Well except for hallmarks that give the year, I'm referring to just the maker as on this fork. Congrats on the find it's one of the nicest piece post up.

Sweet, I would check the 1900-1910 census for the town you found it in and see if "G B" or "C B" lived there. The date is probably a wedding date and you can research from there. Cool find, congrats, Sub 8-)

Excellent find! I believe it to be pre-1900.

beautiful awesome silver fork, really nice piece. congrats

That is one sweet find! I found a sterling fork this summer, I had it made into a bracelet by my jeweler... 10402949_975377125810818_5746302808390831712_n.webp

That's a great silver find, a large one at that! Congrats!
