Still cant believe i unearthed this beauty!!!

You can call it a "Snap Base" if you are a newbie! Just kidding do NOT call it that.

It's a sweet knife, well used by the maker/owner. Great work and bevel on it. Perfect except for the base, it's snapped off. If it's not a fresh break, it broke off in the haft! Great find there

I cleaned it a bit and there's Some red in the chert.

Hey rock. Sorry for delay. I've been busy lately. I unearth all mine so far in Kansas river and tributaries. The ones from this latest hunt was from a creek in Kansas City area. What do u think about the black bowl looking rock. It had and still has some concrete type material in it. I started scraping out but then stopped thinking I'd never had such hard material. Gotta get back to work. Thanks for all comments!!

Its interesting but I dont find them like that here. I have seen some posted that are natural and others that were used even though they were natural. Somebody else would have to give you the answer you are looking for. Thanks for the view of them, rock
