The 8 year old found a stingray barb today at the beach. We found a handful of fossil shark and ray teeth as well. I don't believe the barb is a fossil. This is the first one we've found. Is this somewhat common?

Show us a pic and we will be able to determine if it's fossilized

I have a couple non fossil ones I've found along the shore of the Indian River lagoon.
They are white.. white"ish" at least.
All the fossil ones I've seen are darker and completely rigid while the non fossil ones flex a little.

Not fossil

wow those look wicked

I don't mean to waste anyones time, it's definitely not a fossil. Attached is a picture and some of the teeth we've found out there as well. I assume the fragment is a turtle shell. Not sure what the little black fossil is? Also included a small shark tooth sitting on the dime - my kids have good eyes.

That's a good honest hunt man.
Oh my goodness that is a tiny one!
That little tubular piece is a fossil leg segment from a crab.
It's tough to find sand tigers with both nice pointy cusps like that one you have there

Thanks, these all came from exactly where you said they'd be. I definitely appreciate it. We've found 5 or 6 with the nice side cusps.
