found it in front of an old line shack, in an area where there was known cattle rustling. It is difficult to ask questions though, because(back in the day) nobody in that area went to prison for rustling. And they are tight knit good ol' boy's.
It's kinda ironic that I have friends in the area where the beve's were held/branded. And a few months ago I built a house on one of the very ranches where the beve's were rustled from, 100 miles away. The only info I got from the ranchers daughter was yes indeed her families ranch(oldest in the co)suffered from rustlers back then.

Fascinating, sounds like you have LOTS of detecting ahead in places never touched, and I'm jealous! Surprised that anyone would discard his stirrup or not "notice" where he lost it, hmm.
