I found this last year at the site of Fort Atkinson. Fort Atkinson(1850-1854) was the site of the Indian Peace Treaty of 1853. It was said 5000 lodges of Indians were camp at this location during the treaty signing. It was meant to stop the raids along the Santa Fe trail.

It seems to be made of sandstone, and was found after a farmer had plowed the field. Any information such as age, use or tribe would be great.

Just like Pickaway said, stone maul. I've also seen them called war clubs. My grandfather found one in the field that I hunt back when I was about 12 (I've been looking for one ever since), he called it his "skullcracker".

Awesome find!
