Stone sinker-or spear head???

...about a year ago the water in fish creek (schuylerville ny.) dropped a few feet...my boys and I were swimming and checking out the shale bottom that was exposed,when I found this...I thought it was a stone sinker,but a friend thought it was a spear head...I'd like to know what every one here thinks!!!...thanks...

I'm with man made stone weight of some kind. Some say they were weights for throw nets. This one was excavated and labeled as a line weight Maine Memory Network - Native American Stone Fishing Line Weight

It looks like a plummet to me. And a very nice one I might add! Post it in the Native American forum and see what else someone can tell you about it. I say you've got an outstanding find there. Good luck!

yep. a plummet, found all over the place, often associated with water, but no agreement on what they were used for.
