Hello all,
Spent a few hours detecting this morning and pulled out this cob...lol....too bad I'm 99.9% sure its fake..cool find tho and I'm happy to have it..rang in the copper range on my etrac 12-41, but because of the little bit of corrosion on one side i think its zinc...did they even make cobs from copper?..is cob the correct terminology?
Definitely was a heart stopper

Yes, 'cob' is the correct term.
Replicas were also made in pewter.

Yes they did make them out of copper--check out Maravedis Cobs. I found one a few years back.

Still a cool find, you ought to put it on a chain n wear it with no fear of losing it since its fake and it'd be a conversation starter
