It's an astragalus (also commonly called an ankle bone), which articulates with the lower (distal) end of the tibia, the lower rear leg bone.

Here are both sides of a camel astragalus (roughly 15 to 13.4 million years old) I photographed in the middle Miocene Barstow Formation, Mojave Desert, California, several years ago:

Awesome. I was guessing something larger than a deer, any idea what animal it would be from, considering i found it in SE Tn...Sequatchie valley...
I always assumed I would only find prehistoric marine fossils
