A friend found this at a colonial site recently. Never seen anything like it. Its quite thick (same as 2 quarters stacked together). Appreciate any help with this weird piece.

Sorry - I just realized I posted this twice on this forum instead of here and on the What Is It forum.

Thanks, guys. The clue was the portcullis.
In 2015, I wish you all will retain or find good health, a happy spirit, exciting finds--and IDs.
My best,
Don.......
You as well Don! And as far as the IDs go as long as you're around we won't have to worry about it lol

Wow Don thanks so much for figuring out the mystery relic! Truly amazing how fast you found it. And also a big thanks to my buddy Bill for posting it on this forum. I had sent Bill the pictures of the token last night hoping for a id. I knew when I first saw the token pop out of the ground that it was old but from 1677 and from Ireland, Incredible!!!!! Thanks so much guys. Jason
