So I went through 250 dollars (a full box) of dimes tonight just for the heck of it..No silver of course but I did stumble across this 2003 P copper looking dime (has no silver look to it whatsoever). If you look at the photos the dime has no reeding on the edges either. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Weighs between 2.2-2.3 grams (standard dime weight), thanks!

It's a science experiment. I forget the name of it but it's real easy to do. It basically just changes the color of he coin. The missing reeds is from circulation.

The missing reed is caused by a slot machine! You have a coin from a casino

The pitting of the fields and surface indicate to me the possibility that it is a cast coin. That would be counterfeit. Not sure...

you mean there are still casinos that take coins. wow.

In 2003 pretty much all casino's, Indian and Private, accepted coin. If you search half dollars you will ton's of them as well....

No discredit OnARoll, I was merely telling you what you have found.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

Nobody in their right mind is going to cast a counterfeit dime from 2003. Earlier 1800's possibly but not the early 2000's......

I think Wicka found a cast dime that was clad, it was not a magicians coin, and was very clanky.
