Strange enfield bullet.. Help id

Found this yesterday and can't find any info on it looking for a little help on this one. Not in perfect shape but you can see what I'm talking about on the base

Looks like a smaller caliber bullet is in the cavity of the Enfield..Strange..

If you zoom in you can see there is no seem like it's another bullet in there. It was made that way from what I can tell. I am hoping that someone can shed a little light on this. I can't find any examples of an enfield like this one anywhere

Looks like a Gardner to me.Google confederate Gardner bullet.
