This is about the size of a quarter or a little bigger, it is beveled like a button but no eyelet on the back. The only writing on it is on the back. A friend of mine asked that I take pictures of it for him (I did not find this) and then send it to Mark Parker but I thought I would start with the experts here first.

Please let me know if you can tell me anything about this.

Thanks!

Rather than a coin - looks to be a Japanese badge or token of some kind - possibly pre-WWII. A Jingu Badge comes to mind but perhaps someone can translate the characters? Very nice!

I sent pictures of the coin to a friend of mine that is Chinese. She stated she thought it was Japanese so she sent the pictures to a Japanese friend of hers.

Here is the translated response (the two individuals only correspond in Chinese):

Don,

According to my friend this is a memorial coin for an old style high school spring competition. The characters on the coin says “old style high school spring competition.” The year on the coin is 2952 which is Japanese Emperor Chou Ho Year 6 converting to Western Calendar 1931. Hope this helps.

Best Regards,

Another email from my Chinese Friend:

Don,

My friend just called me and clarified that the high school competition is like the field day here with sports competition.

Best Regards,
