After a brief rain, I decided to walk the creek and found these. I am pretty sure one is an odd piece of thick pottery. It appeared to lack obvious temper, but it was concave and scratched like low-fired pottery. It left a clay dirt substance under my nails. The other piece I think is a grinding-tool, but I might be wrong. Thoughts? And as always thanks for reading! 85194099-3FF9-47EC-81A2-41F06E29373A.webp79D39B07-7DA6-4822-9DC6-5C4EC7A8AEB2.webpEB13DE5E-DD49-497E-9FC4-6AC96FF5DD48.webp1AB0FFA3-8F93-4092-AF88-C4C035AB3B30.webp4F3BDF90-3701-4799-BE88-D8A3B395C07D.webp358C6BB4-5C66-4F8B-BB81-294BAA34A967.webp7FBFA74E-8F9C-444A-A6EB-2AED8CAF1D88.webp2CADB75C-BC84-4885-9D58-B999F7862682.webp

I’m sorry but, I don’t see where any of those items are artifacts. Don’t let my comment slow you down. Keep looking! There’s plenty of nice relics out there waiting to be found. :icon_thumright:

Thanks for the responses, I should have figured the stone object. The other piece fooled me, because initially I thought it was just a rock, but it being some type of clay or hardened dirt had me confused. I suppose every setback is a learning experience, though some of us are slower learners than others. Thanks for the responses and words of encouragement!

What part of Georgia are you in? - County.

I am in northeastern Georgia near the counties of Clarke, Oconee, and Jackson,

I’m not familiar with any sites to hunt in those counties. But, I’d keep my eye on the lakes when they get back low again. Good luck!
