Strange Solid Pink Mushroom?

I found this thing near Cherokee Lake in North Carolina. It was by a bush and I ripped it from it's stem with my shoe. It's like nothing I have ever seen before. It is soft like a dense foam yet weak if you were to press to hard. It gets mushy when in water. I was careful to avoid touching it and put it in a plastic bag.

It's the bathroom sink.

It's a pink slime mold. Just do a Google search and plenty of pictures will show up.

I'm not trying to fool anyone. It was near a bush and it looked like it had a stem. I thought it was a fungus of some sort.

Strange stuff indeed. Sort of looks like something hacked up a ball of Pepto Bismol. Hmm, never heard of pink slime mold. Odd!
