Made a great find today at 3 inches with the X-terra 305. So far it is my best find. Hope everyone else is taking advantage of this early cold digging, the dirt is soft here in ky.

What is that Ted? Very cool find and I'm glad you like your 305.

Well it is what I believe to be a union officer buckle. I will upload a picture of the back here in a bit!

Yes it's pretty cool I have to say. A blind hog finds an acorn every now and then lol.

Congrats.Thats real history.HH.

Great find Ted, I am sure a military expert will offer an identification on your great seal disc...something like a horse bridle boss or tack adornment. Happy Hunting, Sub 8-)

Subterranean: So you believe this belonged on a horse bridal?? Im sill kind of wondering. Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks
Travis

Sub is right , it is a bridle rosette, or bridle adornment.

Looks to be in very good condition. Congrats!!!

Cool find. I'm in Kentucky too. Shelbyville. Whereyaat? Lol

That is very cool

it's a post 1902 Great seal Bridle rosette, the U.S Army pretty much quit using horses by 1940, so It would be possible it was in use anytime between 1902-1940.
it's a nice find.

That is a very nice find. I just visited Kentucky for the first time and it seems like a very history rich area. I had about four days worth of work to do, but no hunting.

Yes it is full of history, just have to do some research. Thanks and hope you come back to hunt soon!

Thanks Nova appreciate the information sir.
