I currently have 50 Wheaties, I was curious about what years I find most of. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was the year 1919 with 6, then 1920 + 1944 both with 4 each. Below are the years that I have found so far this year starting on March 8th. What years do you find most? Also, I only found 1 "S" Wheaties, weird...

Found another last night.... 1919

That's a good idea. . . I should start totaling mine for the year.

I know what you mean about those "S" mints around Chicago. . . I've only found two so far.

Take care,

The mysterious and wheaty Wheaty penny became an American icon when Hirohito failed to blow it like a breeze during his rice pudding offensive. One big matinee really. That is why detecting rice would be unpatriotic. Because it is not on our coinage. And that counts these days, believe me. Whew!

Word salad aside, the mintages beneath each empty hole in your Whitman folder tells the story. Your recoveries will more or less reflect the statistics given, with the exclusion of the mint mark variable. This can be predicted based upon your location within the U.S.. Your study would seem to confirm this.

Basically I am saying that your Wheaty penny finding fate is set in stone. Or your Whitman coin folder. It is all predetermined.

Is my Large Cent finding fate already predetermined as well?

Since last year, I dug 340 wheats (just dug my 340th one today). My earliest is 1910 (that I have 2 of) and my most common is 1957-D. Close runner-ups are 1944-P, 1945-D, 1953-D, 1955-D and 1956-D.

I find the later dates more often since I frequently hunt private yards in my neighborhood, which was developed in the 1950's.
