was going through a box of family photos and found this bag at the bottom today.
it is only about one third full and mostly small coins but the dollars and half dollars
date from 1879 to 1976. finding the value of the coins should not be to hard.
but the bag which i can date to about 1950 (by virtue of knowing when the previous owner changed banks) I wonder how much can an antique bag be worth?

What is the mint mark on the reverse? (Located below the tail feathers of the eagle and directly below the wreath)

on that one it looks like an s. i had to scan the coin to see my eyesight is that poor.
so i scanned all the ones that were like that one so you can look.

Has anyone ever heard of a 1955 s penny having a double B pushing up against the E ??? If so, what might a coin with this error sell for?

Thanks,
Ed T

#4, #5, #8 do not have mint marks which means they were minted in Philadelphia.

That is what they call a BIE error and is caused by a die break between the
two letters. That sort of error sometimes adds a small premium to common
coins BUT since the 1955-s is considered a key date coin it may detract from
the value a little. The higher the grade of the coin the better. siegfried schlagrule
