Stumped on these two items

These two items were found below a bed hidden in the floorboards painted black in a shoe box. The hoe was razor sharp and could cut paper. When you rub the hoe it seems easier to read what is stamped in it. Both items are forged with writing and symbols all over on them I am thinking in Latin. They are very old. One appraiser sent them back to me because he was uncomfortable with them. I have many pictures. As you can see there is even markings inside the handle mounts.

Colonial Garden tools,

A hoe and a tater fork. I live in a place where the ground is very hard. We sharpen our hoes all the time as do the detectorists. The hiding is a different thing. I think Gene Mean may have something with the slave question. Could be tools sharpened and hidden for a potential slave revolt.

Best wishes and more great finds!

They are not standard gardening tools. I will post clearer pics. The writing is hard to see in pictures and nobody would go yhemrough that much work to have names in all the times if it was a farm tool

Really. Take a closer look at my new thread. Explain all the burning in numbers inside the handle and all the burned in lettering in those pics. I don’t think they did that because they were bored

The Cannonball

First I had a civil war authority verify it is a revolutionary British cannonball. I mean really if you don’t have a clue why give an opinion. I am waiting for response on the two farm tools. The archeologist statedg they May be farm tools but they were not designed or used for that. I was going to post a brooch from 1810 I recently obtained....but too many ****ing know it all....who know nothing.....comment in **** they don’t know. I am done on this website what a ****ing joke

The symbols are likely where the forged metal exfoliated or normal metal loss after so many years. Common in many of the old axes and tools I have collected.

It could have been whose ever bed it was collected them and they were special to that person. maybe they found them, sharpened them and put them away for safe keeping and for some unknown reason they were never retrieved. Person could have died unexpectedly
I can definitely see Jesus, Mickey Mouse and the Tooth Fairy and a map to LDM. Thanks for Sharing! :)

Where do I begin. Well.....let's see, "A civil war authority verify it is a revolutionary British cannonball??? Did I miss something here? Was this not about farm tools? The farm tools themselves, they kind of look like they were run through an electrolysis then brushed due to the pitting and shine. But as you so well pointed out, I guess I too am a "****ing know it all...who know nothing.....comment in ****they don't know." So anyway, you posted, you asked, but didn't get the answer you wanted, I don't think you REALLY wanted an opinion, but rather a "banner" and a "hug". I might add that I STILL do not see anything "burned" into the handle. Today is Jan. 1st, what a nice way to start the "New Year", by that I mean your (Exit) from the Forum Bruce. Also, your NOT going to show us the 1810 brooch you recently obtained? Well dog gone it, that sure is our loss.

He will take 1 million dollars for all 3 items instead of selling them to a museum but the offer expires once they are ID d,lol I would trade all those items for a mercury dime and be happier with the dime!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw that too Sprail. Made me snort. Thanks for taking the time to put that thought in print! CW expert validating a Rev Cannonball on a farm tool thread. The guy is Manic. :)
