Hey everyone. Haven’t been out detecting too much until about a few days ago. My friend and I went out looking for a site and while doing so stumbled across what looked like a mill foundation or an old bridge made of stone. There was a slight hill and we decided to venture up to it. Up on the hill was a really early cellar holes with a massive tree growing out of it. We started swinging and got a button or two. Didn’t seem like the place was loaded with signals. I went right on the lip of the cellar and got a good signal, dug down and got a copper. I wiped it off to see my first ever NJ copper, found here in Northern Massachusetts. Not only was it my first as previously mentioned but the condition was absolutely phenomenal as well. I’m going to do a little work on it, but there is some crust in the reverse ill try to take off with some ver my very light work with a tooth pick.
(And I’m sure the photos will post sideways as always)...

Yeah, I was quite surprised! Usually 9/10 coppers are just torched. No flaking or anything with this one. Soooo pleased.

Gotta be one of the best conditioned NJ coppers ever found- yet another, in a VERY long line, of great finds made by Mass hunters- Congrats!!

well done, great to see on in so nice condition, take it easy cleaning and show some pics when done, the NJ coin index crowd will be pleased, I think they monitor new finds

You just can't ask for a LC to be in better condition. Congrats on a pretty great find!

What a beauty - a big congrats ! :occasion14:

Wow that is a nice one! Mine always come out toasted.

Impressive looking copper, congrats.

Beautiful! Will clean up nice! Nice and slow with that toothpick [emoji16]

Well done

Very nice! Congrats. Don in SJ will add it to his survey of NJ coppers. What county in Mass?

Maris 28-L variety, very nice!

Wow!!!!!!!! I wish my Massachusetts copper looked like that. I guess the key is hunt in the woods for coppers and not farm fields. That thing is stunning to say the least!!! Congrats

That's a stunner, once in a blue moon to find a dug copper in that kind of condition, and a great state coin to add to the collection. Congrats from a fellow Mass hunter HH, still waiting for the day we run into one another out there.

BTW, I've found with photos on TNet if you edit your photo in any way before posting, such as cropping or adjusting, they will post correctly. Not sure why, something about editing tools correct the position. Congrats again on a very nice colonial copper!
