probably the best (quantity) hunt i've ever had. returned to "eagle head" property where i found the pocket knife, harmonica reed (7th found on this spot), and in an area on the same property not checked out very well the winged pin and medallion-type item that reads"seal of the state of Pennsylvania." not sure what those last two items are, although i looked for a good while on the internet for the pin. then i hit a "new" location, the one where i uncovered the infantry button last weekend that i posted on "what is it." i had so much fun there with my aunt (she and my uncle are the gracious property owners) who ran in and cleaned the dirt off the "keepers." this was only my 2nd mercury dime ever. the wheatie is 1911. i am thinking the small, cup-shaped object is a toy pewter cup with the handle broken off. the medallion reads"concord school house birthplace of jr o.u.a.m. i found one on e-bay, that is being sold for 19.99 . the "whitehead hoag" lettering it mentions is not readable on the one i found. this new spot i've hunted the past two weekends is especially fun and exciting since my dad and some of his siblings were born there, grew up there, and now my uncle and aunt live there. my dad and 2 aunts were there last weekend to see the "I" button and a beautiful sterling silver ring that i did not post due to a time shortage :-\. oh, there were two other unknown brass items that i will try topost on "what is it." thanks for looking!

Re: Concord Schoolhouse

Around 1852 Gideon D. Harmer, a representative form Reliance Council #40 (OUAM), called upon Wm. M. Weckerly, State Council Secretary, informed him that several young men of his acquaintance were desirous of organizing a Junior Order, and asked his opinion and assistance in aid of the movement. He met with every encouragement; and Mr. Weckerly wrote the first ritual, constitution, and by-laws and presented them with several blue silk collars for their officers. Under their fostering care, Washington Council #1 of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics was instituted, on the 17th of May 1853, at the Concord School House, Germantown, PA.

The pin looks like a service star, they are used to show that there is a family serving in a war.

thanks, everyone! Mackaydon, that was great information- thanks for the reply and knowledge shared!

Kilpelaj:
I believe you are spot on with your call.
The service lapel pin may be worn by members of the immediate family of one or more family members serving in the Armed Forces of the United States during any period of war or hostilities in which the Armed Forces of the United States may be engaged, for the duration of such period of war or hostilities.

sorry, i don't have any idea on a date or value i always thought someone might've visited Gettysburg,
or the capital in Harrisburg and bought it at a gift shop ? ? hopefully someone else here can help you
out with that Mike

I wonder if the item was made in Penna at all, as the fine Commonwealth of Penna is not in fact a State. I suspect that it was made elsewhere and imported.
