Hi Folks,

Went for a couple hour hunt today. I happened upon my first quartz Berkman Triangle. I snapped a photo reenacted in situ. I have to learn patience before pickup. However, near identical in situ. Also found a couple wading river pieces. One small full minor tip damage. I also uploaded a photo of a big biracial quartz peice. Not sure what it is. Definitely worked but thick. Perhaps a thick leaf knife. The odd shaped red maroon one is foriegn to me. Any ideas of possible tool?

Thanks Chris

Love those triangle points. Some that size were actually true arrow points. I admire the cultures that could work quartz into such fine pieces. Exceptional skill needed for that material. Nice hunt.

Some straight nice stuff there.

The big overshot flake catches my eye.

big biracial quartz piece

Looks like you're stuck with spellcheck's meddling too !

Super triangle !!!

Nice finds once again Chris. The biracial (bifacial maybe) quartz piece is especially interesting. Looks like a large scraper or maybe a core almost spent. I have several similar pieces and some may be choppers. The reddish piece is a flake struck from a core--debitage probably. The triangle and stemmed piece are good examples of their type. Thanks and congrats.

Nice saves! You’re killing it, keep up the picking up!

Since the the big quartz some people find interesting, here is another from a year ago.

I have a couple more. I'll dig them out sometime.

Hard to tell from the almost-focused picture (not a dig) but it looks like they used both thin edges of the overshot flake.

Uniface,

You mention "overshot flake." I am still a bit green on in depth lithic flaking ect. I had to research that just now. Appears to be by accident unless by Solutrean or by Clovis culture. We both know this is not by them. So, what is an overshot flake in the purpose of these items.

I recently watched an episode of Unearthed America, about the soulutrean culture and the likelyhood they crossed and icesheet from Europe. Interesting.

But back to overshot flake. Can you elaborate on this?

Thanks
