If workin 6 nights 12 and 13 hours a week is your idea of fun, anyway. Finally got two days off so went down east of Salida along the Arkansas. I took the county road less travelled on the north side of the river from about Coaldale back to Howard. Highway 50 on the south side is the more scenic route, but most of the early expeditions followed the north side of the river in this area. I did get to see Mato Nanji and the band Indigenous downtown last week. If you like SRV and Hendrix, check them out sometime.

Time off is always good. Beautiful pics. Thanks.

My older bro lived in Howard for a couple years. Nice area down there. Who doesn't like SRV and Hendrix? Rock on and maybe get that detector out!

Beautiful area to relax around! :icon_thumleft:

Beautiful river views. That old church is sweet! I will look up the band. Thanks!

Pretty country. That first shot of the river, looks like the water has dropped about four feet recently. Fresh mud, and the grass is still flattened. Indigenous. Cool name for a band.

I always thought that was an old one room school house, but it's an old church I just now found out.

You can sure tell the time of year by the level of the river. I'm gonna be going down to Canon City via South Park and highway 9 today and then maybe come back up though that way of the Arkansas river. I've seen guy's with a suction dredge on that spot of the river before. They were sucking up the gravel around these rocks on the opposite side.

I had the benefit of being able to enlarge the pic and read the sign. Not so easily done when driving by, I'm sure.

Hey, RGINN, I was just going to research the history of Howard, Co. and this sign came up. Is it a fake sign, or do they really have that out there?

Far as I know it's still up along the highway there.
