Before that Big Horn fight, Sitting Bull had a vision about soldiers falling into the camp and the vision said do not mutilate or take anything from the soldiers they would kill. That would have been good politics, but people didn't listen and couldn't resist. Since people went against that part of the vision, you might think that caused the final downfall of those tribes involved.
