Sunday's 11-12 Schoolyard finds

Hello all!

I managed to get out for 3 hours Sunday in between getting all my family businees done. It was cold but the sun was trying to shine and I was really just happy to be out in my solitude enjoying what I doo, finding!!

I hit a schoolyard in the area that I haven't been too. Some luck out there, a medium amount of digging to keep my interest and warmth going. I found $6.18 in clad, 83 coins. One more time out will get me over the 4000 coin total for the year. I'm at 3983 now. I found a 1977 1 shilling Austrian coin. It's pretty cool and pretty. Also my usual nice assorment of trinket/junk jewelry including a nice gold plated pin that's two feet together. It says "Copywrite V. Evers 1973" on the back. I also dug the coolest zipper pull. It must be off a junior flight jacket or something because it's a WW2 style fighter jet.

My best find was a sweet and wearable (gifted to my daughter already), silver bracelet. It's stretchy like a watch band and about 1/8" wide. Very feminine and pretty.

Here's a couple photos. Thanks for reading and happy hunting. Best of luck to you all!

Smiles!

GAH 4000 coins. WOW. And more silver jewelry. That is really cool Bobby. Awesome job. If you ever get the chance and have not had to sell or give away some of your jewelry finds would love to see a pic of your collection. I have only been with us for 6 months now and I sure have seen a lot of great jewelry (plus tons of other finds as well) you have found. I would love to see that collection I bets its pretty awesome.

Good job as always,

Postalrevnant

I'll work on that PR Man. Sounds good. I can get a shot of all my keeper treasure when the ground freezes and hunting season is over for me.

My trinket finds are really interesting, I have pounds of the stuff in a treasure chest.
I'll have to lay them out to see what I have in there from this year. I know I have around 200 trinket pendants alone and maybe 50 junk rings. :)

Thanks for all the friendly notes and comments my friend. It means a lot to me!
Best of luck to you and yours.

It is very unique, never seen one f those. At first, I thought it was a gold pendant because it came out of the woodchips fairly clean and shiney. You know, the little voice in our head saying "please be gold, please be gold" ...lol. Most of the time it isn't though huh.

Thanks!

Doo,

I'm with you on that statement :)
Sometimes I think....I need to get away from these crazy people (jk) that live in my house! :) lol :)
Need a little breathing room, ya know?
Congrats on a great hunt! I like the little pallet charm...cute :)

I think it helps me keep my sanity with all the stress we have in life these days (I have had more then my share I guess ...lol) and all the finds, are just a bonus.
Yes, glad you noticed that little pallet thing. It's really cool and unique.

Thanks for the friendly comment!

Great to meet you in person. It was interesting to hear that you have found seated, barbers, SLQs and such. Somehow I got the impression that you were just a jewelry/clad junkie. Not that there is anything wrong with that... ;)

SO... the finds. Good haul. My son and I used to write down our finds each time out. Then the finds would back up and it became to bothersome. We do have our posts for a record and will try to compile the stats at the end of the year. Last year Nate and I had about 4000 clad coins totalling around $330. This year we will have a lot more. Next year Nate and I will likely keep separate totals.

Bob

That was cool today Bob. Thanks for bringing along some of your goodies.
I just looked and I have found 19 silver coins (and the $2-1/2 gold coin of course), 1 SL 50 cent, 4 Wash 25, 1 Canada 25, and 13 Merc and Roosies so I doo get out and coin hunt too, hitting old house sites and empty fields, etc. I hit those in the spring when the grasses and weeds are down. But dang, all doo respects to the coin and relic lovers, but I love having the chance to find jewelry. It got in my blood at that horse stable in the 1980's pullling about 300 rings out of there and a lot of silver coins too, Silver dollars, halfs, and the rest...the good ole days...lol. That place was a dream site.

Your clad totalls from last year are almost exact to mine this year, weird. I like to keep track. It gives me a good idea of the hot places to hit in the future as we only have so much time to hunt raising a family and working etc.

Hey, I enjoyed your story about "The Iceberg", how it got named and all. That's a great site too. Keep it coming from there.

Thanks again my friend. Someday, we can get a hunt in. I know the way there by heart now...lol.

Actually, they have started a program in our area to eliminate cash being allowed to be used at luch in the schools. They want a check or you can doo it on line using you debit or creadit cards, then the kids use their student ID and the money is debited from the account...so we'll see in the coming years how that impacts the finds. The woodchips are just such easy pickins for me, I am just plain lazy :)...there's always the grassy areas and the front where they load/ unload the busses and get picked up.

Thanks for the visit!

Thanks RR,

Hopefully the weather will cooperate but if not, I have had an awesome year and don't concider it a quest. I just enjoy being out there (but not enough to clear snow and chop through frozen ground...lol)

Re: Sunday's 11-12 Schoolyard finds

BDoo, stop spreading false information, the USA didn't have any jet planes in WWII. Not jumping on you, just kidding. ;) Neat little zipper pull. I don't think there's a kid with one left on their coats as I find several everytime I visit a schoolyard. The neatest one I found is shaped like a baseball bat and enlaid with red glass and the words Louisville Slugger. Those things may be collectibles themselves some day. Nice job. Monty

You know, I did think of that, but got side tracked and forgot to change it. Nice catch Monty!! I guess it proves (listening Badger ...lol) that some people actually doo read the posts here. You made me smile Monty, that's always a good thing. Thanks for that and stopping in!
