Got out with Patriot and another detectorist Sunday to brave the windchill and the occasional flurries. We hit a couple of site that have produced in the past, and we came up with a few bits and pieces but nothing too stunning. I managed a few coppers(1940, 1832 NS, 1864 NB and a crusty with a raised line across one side), crotal bell, buttons, musketballs - all the usual stuff! Most interesting find of the day came in a spot we've pulled 2nd american rev war buttons before. A very small, worn button that appears to have crossed something on one end. I thought it was corrosion in the field but the button is actually not corroded much at all. Very hard to get a picture of, but maybe someone will have an idea what it may have been!

I'd say cufflink as that is a common shape for them.
Maybe take another picture, and crop it before posting it up, as it will make it bigger, and easier to see ?

Nice group of finds, I agree with Rick on the button, most likely a linked button.
Nice bell for sure.
ZDD

Cufflink makes sense, although the shank seemed different than my other cufflinks at first.
Picture can't get much clearer even if I crop it, I don't have a dedicated macro lens and it's pretty worn. I'm wondering if it may be some variation of the masonic cufflinks I'm seeing online, too bad it's so worn!

Could be an urn.

One of Crusader's pics.

I see more a round outline, but an X, it could very well be masonic.

Sure was cold...surprised no one ended up with pneumonia that day... hard to tell by that pictutre...i see an anchor...

Could be, but the urn makes sense too as there is an oval shape. I've tried getting a better picture but it's so worn. It is what it is I guess!

Yeah no pneumonia but my neck and back have been stiff from the cold. Could be an anchor too. All I know for sure it came from an old site that I'm sure is hiding some more really nice stuff!
