Sunday's finds from my "cleaned out" backyard

My son and I spent about an hour looking around my back yard yesterday afternoon. I have POUNDED this small yard and have already pulled plenty of coins and "stuff" from there for a year now. This was his first time using my ACE250 (now it's his) and the first time trying my DFX in my yard.
Funny how true it is that no place is ever hunted out.
Spencer found an old pocketknife at about 7-8" (he asked me to come over and see what I thought it was. The ACE said$.25....the DFX said$.25, but the signagraph was seeing ferrous mixed in there.) He also found a wheatie. I ended up with a wheatie, some clad and a nice silver ring. Two silver rings in two days is fine by me!
Brought my gear in to work today as I am thinking that maybe a lunch-time hunt is in order ;D

That's amazing!
Do you think the frost heaved all that up to a detectable zone?

nah..I think a lot of it has to do with the direction you are traveling when swinging...moisture content, etc...plus maybe swinging a different machine helps too.

Could be the frost upheaval-thingy though.

The saying goes: "No place is ever hunted out." But, after a DFX survey of the land, it is NOW!

Nice finds. Love that ring. My yard has a tendency to produce from time to time as well. It has been pounded to death. It cringes when I pull up into the driveway. Nice to see father and son thing happening.

I think angle of approach has a good bit to do with it as well. I usuallyscan my yard from street to house. Occasionally I scan from driveway to neighbor's yard. This, though, is only for when I am not finding diggable targets after several trips through the yard. It has already netted me a copper mem and a wheat in the last week. Not a lot, I know. I must have hit my yard 50 times since I started back last July. Everyonce in a while I still nail something good. Sooner or later I will starting scanning the yard diagonally. Angle of approach is very important as I have learned....

Looks like your on a fountain of targets that just keep bubling up!
Great stuff!

Have fun,

I don't think any place is ever "hunted out" like every one has said the different angles, moisture, etc. The park I hit yesterday there was two other MDers out there detecting, talked to one he said he has been hitting this park every year and he has seen a lot of others to. After they left I went over to an area I seen them swing, this the area I found one of my rings there was a plug 2 feet from the location of this ring.

That's a beaut!

Also, they probably were trying to completely discriminate out the whole pulltab range...and folks that do that will very rarely if ever dig gold.

The more PULLTABS you digg, the better the chance for GOLD ;D

To discrimate or not to discrimate, thats is the question. You're right, to get the rings you have to dig pulltabs. Great ring. HH Sonny

alot of hype over the DFX.... is it worth it? I cant seem to bring myself to pay 1000.00 yet...

Nice little ring. :) Treasure is everywhere!

Guess the ring thing is not a function of detector but of hunter. You already are two rings up on me this year. :P
This is suppose to be the year I find that big honky gold ring....
