Superbowl pre-game hunt - "Wallis" button and Large Cent

Got in another hunt at my new permission on Super Bowl day, the Huguenot home site, but am just now finding time to post. Managed to pull out some more buttons, one with a "Wallis" back mark that still has the original gold gilt lettering in fantastic detail. I do not have a button book, so all I've been able to find so far is that William Wallis was a British button manufacturer around the 1790 to 1830 time frame. Any additional info would be appreciated as this is the first time I've found this particular back mark.



Also scored my first large cent for this site. Not in the best shape, but it appears to be a matron head.

Per McGuin & Bazelon backmarks: William Wallis Birmingham England. Listed by 1790 as a Merchant/Factor on Newton St. In 1805, Wallis & Lloyd were "American Merchants" on Paradise St & in 1808-1809 he was a merchant (alone) on Square St. & continued as same to 1816. In 1825 he was a merchant at 102 Litchfield. Wallis supplied buttons to A.W. Spies NYC.

It would almost appear that Wallis had trouble paying rent.
