Surf Detecting on land

Was detecting a soccer field in a local park, hundreds of miles from the ocean, when I got a good signal on my Compadre. It turned out to be this surf fishing weight with monofilament? Someone practicing their casting technique? or just a REALLY bad backcast?

I've seen sinkers used as bottom corner weights on the sports field signs the the cheerleaders and pep rally folks made.

Haha, I also knew a guy that cleaned his caught fish by the water spicket at a ball field across the street from his house... Kept his ole lady from b**ching a hole in the ground about making the driveway smell like a Port Aransas marina for a week afterward.
