Greetings! I research and visit abandoned ranches here in Cochise County. I dont MD, maybe some day. I’ve been to quite a few old ranches but this is the first time I have found a coin. A humble 1928 wheat, on the surface. This ranch, east of the Huachuca Mountains and very close to our border with Mexico, received its patent in 1926. The homesteader was William Ratliff.

Only a penny but it made my day!

For your entertainment I’ve included an article about a shooting affray concerning William’s brother George.

Nice Wheaty. It would be good to hunt that area with a MD. Interesting article.

What a fun thread, and the penny is a good find. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like a nice area to hunt! :occasion14:

Thats sounds like alot of fun you do like History That would be fun to detect some of those Ranches and preserve some history that otherwise would turn to dust.
