I was at a coffee shop in Tucson and decided to go for a walk in a undisturbed desert island in the middle of town. I started seeing purple glass and then scooped up these relics including a 1930 City of Tucson dogtag!

The last item baffles me. It has a twisted wire running through a rectangular frame. It is about 14” end to end. The disc within the frame spins freely on the twisted wires and the twisted wires move through the frame. One end of the twisted wire ends with two loops the other end with one loop and a spring. I have no idea as to its function so any help would be appreciated.

If no one can identify this - you might consider posting your pictures on WHAT IS IT? for more exposure...

those are some seriously old baby pins!! lol..and I think a hutch bottle stopper..don't know about the other piece.

Cannot remember what the wire thingy was for... but I think this hung... and was either a fly catcher... or pollen collector.

Hope that helps.

Early Housewife's had to buy green coffee beans and roast them at home.

She might have used the stove's Coffee Pot to roast these beans in.

She had to continually shake the beans to prevent burning. An early cookbook advised, “Stir often, giving constant attention . . . not one grain must be burned.” Despite the cook’s best intentions, home roasting often produced charred, foul-tasting beans.

I believe this item was homemade to go inside the Coffee Pot to allow the Housewife to stir the beans at the bottom as they slowly roasted.

The top of the handle had a metal wrap to prevent the heat from coming up the handle.

The square metal flanking kept the stir mechanism in the center of the Pot.

The first bottom Stir Loop rested on the bottom of the Pot while the outer Stir Loop rotated the Beans.

Makes me want a Cup of Java!
