To all you out there surface hunting fields, would never have believed it then but in about 25 years surface hunting ag lots has gone from numerous finds per hr to maybe one find in many hours. Have posted a frame of points from many moons ago that were all surface finds, will post more as time goes on.

Thanks Blue Hunter, represents countless hours walking, fyi, largest blades are approx. 4.5 in.

Very nice! I've seen a very steady decline in 'my fields' in the last two years. It has inspired me to expand my territory this spring. I got spoiled by finding 3 steady producers. I know there are many, many more to be found in there, but I have picked them so hard!

Nice stuff Flintmel!...lets try and get out this weekend

I have also noticed that it's much harder to find things now than it was 20 years ago. This isn't because the pieces are no longer there, it's because the fields are now no-till and will never produce again because the soil isn't getting turned or being exposed. This has caused me to seek out fields farther away from home and settle for less productive fields. 20 years ago we could choose any field we wanted to hunt and you couldn't even think about covering all the fields that were just in your own neighborhood. Not so anymore.

Great stuff in that frame. Looks like a resharpened fluted point bottom left corner, and a nice minuture celt near that. I know there's endless miles and years in that frame and I think it's paid off real well!
And I say that also because it's been the same downward trajectory where the Mrs. and I hunt, esp. where fields are concerned. But, they ain't makin em anymore and when you walk em for years, this is what happens. I had the privlage of walking a few times with the last of his family of collectors, from one of the major collecting families in Ma. He was in his mid 80's then and I still had a tough time keeping up with him and he talked about surface hunting in the 1920's and 30's in southern New England. I'm lucky to get one in many hours of walking now. Nice frame, flintmel!
