Surveyor's weight?

I suspect this is some sort of surveyor's plumb weight. I was just wondering if any here agree with that and if possible, how old.

It is about 3 inches long, lead, and as it says, about 6 ounces.

The other one looks to be a more normal fishing type weight. They were both found in a stand of trees at a modern school, a long way from any water. :)

Thanks!

yep...for plunking...

Yep, that was my take on it too. Either somebody was practicing their casting or the surveyor lost his weight and was using these as replacements. :dontknow:

LOL

Thanks!
