I came upon a Fox Den in the month of May and I saw two or three younguns playing with each other about 20 feet from the den, and their mother was off in the distance yelping, I guess trying to distract me from the kits. Well, within a few feet of the den hole was this little fellow, and I knew he/she was not well, since I was allowed to get within 10 feet and take this photo. I also video taped a little bit.

The sad truth is the next day or so my son visited the site and this baby was in little fox heaven.

I checked the den again last May and it was not in use. Maybe it is now, I will be getting back to that spot I am sure before May and see if the hole is active.

Nice picture, Don. It's a shame the little fox didn't make it.

Nature can seem as cruel as she is beautiful sometimes.

Somewhere 50 ruffed grouse chicks, bunnies amd field mice just found a future that might not have been.

Nature is the best of accountants because she ALWAYS balances her books.

thanks for sharing the pic and story! What a cute lil one and so sad to see him not well too.....hopefully the others are still alive and well!
