SWATARA & Memorial State Parks New Info

you need a FREE PERMIT

While at
Swatara State Park is in Lebanon and Schuylkill counties
I Got a deep Iffy Signal today.
The Kind I Love because they usually
Surprise Me.

I Have my Mighty AP Digger in to the Handle
& Check with my Probe & Still deeper.

All of a sudden I Hear this womans Voice
I Turn around to see Park Ranger
walking towards me. So I Nod a Hi !
& Stand up & take my phones off,
& She's asking me if I Know We need Permits.

I Explain this must be new Because I Was told
to just "Go & Have at it Whenever"
a few years ago.

She was very cool, Told us When , & Where to get
the "FREE" Permits.
Asked us if we heard of the Treasure Found in England
& said how she wanted to go get a detector & Hunt
for Treasure After seeing that.
We talked about the Park Plans,
Litterbugs, Ect.
Said Our Good Bye's
Then headed home.

PLEASE Check your STATE PARK Rules.

It is unknown if this is a New state wide thing.
She dosn't know when it started.

Should be going that way
Wednsday or Thursday
& Will swing by Memorial Lake for my Permit.

Am going to ask if I Need one to Fossil Hunt
& One to Gold Pan Too

When they Most likely say "No"

I May say something like
"So us Detectorists are the only ones Being Picked on" ?

permits are Free & Good for a year.

However Each Park you visit needs it's own Permit

OH...

& at least at Swatara ,

Even with the Permit,
You must Still Call & Advise them you will be at the Park Detecting.

This is Just so they can make their Rangers aware
of what is going on & Have a Permit
so they don't need to stop & Check you out.
