Our neighbor found this on his property adjacent to our property. No visible markings that I could see. I posted a spear head I found this weekend on the Indian relic forum, and appreciate the replies. The locals tell me that this was once a cow pasture and used to be a cherry orchard at one time also. :dontknow:

Hello and welcome to TreasureNet. Can you give us some size reference and better pictures.

I would say it’s 24” in length. CBDF3228-FD4C-4880-A51E-D6E44DC4AD9E.webp I will ask the neighbor for better dimensions tomorrow. We don’t live in this area. We’re just campers for now.

A Yataghan sword bayonet scabbard. Could be French made or made by several other countries, as they copied each others bayonets for their own weapons during this period. This style of bayonet was exported and used all over the world.

To see an example of this style bayonet and scabbard, scroll down to the M1842 and M1866 bayonets, on the link provided.

Thank you for the kind words, as for my service it was an honor and a privilege to serve as it was for my father, my brother, and my son.

Bringing this post back up to the top so I can post a picture versus a link for future reference of our members. Here's a Yataghan or Chassepot style bayonet and scabbard aka Sword Bayonet from my collection.

This style of bayonet was made by several European countries and in the United States, and were used all over the world (US, Europe, Middle East, South America, Central America, Asia, etc.)

TNet members please feel free to use the pictures as needed for our community.....
