I found this tag last weekend. It measures 3/4 by 1 1/4 inches and has tabs on either end. i thought it might be from some lodge or fraternity. Can anyone tell me what those letters stand for and what the item is? Thanks, MM2.

I see the letters "BGM" No idea on anything else. The letters "laying" on top are read first. The "M" is under the "B" and the "G" so it's "BGM" as opposed to "BMG". Gary

I believe the 1st picture is the front, the letters are raised. Based on that, would it be B.C.W? BTW, this was found near Stroudsburg, Pa.

looks like a sash buckle - maybe from a fraternal order - aka mens club

Suspender clip. BWC IMO... B_____ Work Clothes, maybe?

Matt is right it’s a suspender clip. The key to this is those flanges with little holes on the sides, where the crossbar that swiveled would’ve been (which gripped the fabric)

Thank you all for the replies so far. Once i was told the proper sequence of letters, i was able to find another one posted on another forum that had the attached pc on the back. That post didn't come up with the meaning of the abbreviation. Thank you again. MM2

I found the same one in Carroll County Md. I thought it read B W C, with the W intertwining the B and the C. Just a thought :coffee2: Paul

Well, here's another one with the back teeth intact, so it's definitely a suspender/overall clip:

Monograms are a nightmare to read but if one letter is more prominent than the others, that's usually the one that stands for the actual 'name' of the company. For me, in this case it's the 'W', so I read it as 'WBC'.

There's nothing registered as a US trademark in that stylised form but not all companies bothered to register them of course. There is actually a modern company producing suspender clips called 'WBC Industries, Inc' but their website gives no clue as to whether they've been in business for a long time, or even what 'WBC' stands for:
