"How long have you been driving without a tailight?" asked the
policeman after pulling over a motorist. The driver jumped out,
ran to the rear of his car, and gave out a looong, painful groan.

He seemed so upset that the cop was moved to ease up on him a bit.

"Come on, now," he said,"you don't have to take it so hard. It
isn't that serious."

"It isn't?" cried the motorist,"then you know what happened to
my boat and trailer?"

This is a true story...An elderly driver pulled into my brother's gas station about 15 years ago. My brother noticed that the driver made a wide turn to pull up to the pump. The old guy jumped out of his suburban ran for the restroom and hollered at my brother, "Fill her up" . When he came back out he looked at his suburban and said, "Where's my trailer?". Loooong story short. My brother called the sheriff's office and the highway patrol. The HP found the trailer about 30 miles out of town on a sharp bend in the road!!! But...The wife was still asleep in the trailer!!!!!!!!! Of course when my brother tells this story he is always not believed. However, he got a copy of the Calif. HP report and is always ready to show it to disbelievers.

Wow1 johnnycat, That is quite a story. That woman must have been an awful sound sleeper to
sleep right through an unhooking like that. And how could he drive 30 miles without knowing
the trailer was gone? Maybe he was trying to get rid of his wife and make it look like an
accident. Without seeing a police report it would be hard to believe that could actually
happen. Interesting.
