Detector(s) used
Garrett AT PRO, Minelab Equinox 800, Garrett Ace 350, Garrett Pro-Pointer AT
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Heading on a cruise to the Caribbean next month, looking for any tips on packing gear?
Also curious about getting on the ship without getting any gear confiscated by ship security ? I assume detectors are fairly common, but not sure about taking military trench shovels, spades, sifters, or anything that someone in security would be concerned about as a potential weapon
Any feedback would be appreciated

Bought a nice padded case for my detector,....

I had a huge hassle last time I flew,.......

Still can't figure out why?

ANDERSON CAN CUSTOM MAKE RODS I THINK - I TALKED TO GUY THEIR FEW YRS BACK AND HE SAID TELL THEM WHAT I WANT - I HAVE SEEN BREAK DOWN MODELS FOR A FEW MACHINES BUT DONT KNOW IF THEY HAVE THEM IN NORMAL STOCK FOR WHAT YOU NEED
i HAD SAME PROB AS YOU - I BOUGHT THE LONGEST STRAIGHT ONE ANDERSON MADE AND IT ENDED UP BEING 6INS TOO
LONG FOR MY BIGGEST SUIT CASE - I ENDED UP PUTTING IT IN ITS ORIGINAL BOX AND PAID FOR IT AS EXTRA LUGGAGE ONE TIME
ANOTHER TIME I MAILED TO HOTEL --I GOT A TRIP COMING UP IN A WEEK AND GOT TO DECIDE WHAT IM GONNA DO THIS TIME

Traveled on 2 fun & successful MD trips, 1 to the Treasure Coast in Florida after the Hurricane in the fall of 2019 and 1 to Paradise Island in the Bahamas this year.
Flew on Frontier (which requires lithium batteries in checked luggage) and American Airlines. I packed my Equinox in the old 1960's Samsonite hard case luggage and had 0 problems flying with my detector. My wife was very glad I brought the MD along!20191103_140348.webp20191105_121904.webp20191105_163006.webp20191106_093955.webp20200129_125236 mosaic.webp20200129_162450.webp20200130_144255.webp20200130_144326.webp

I can't remember exactly which cruise line it was, either Disney or Holland America that specifically prohibited metal detectors. I think it was Disney. At least for now the point is moot!
