Thanks Grasshopper! Found some other links -but all the finds seem to refer to cufflinks and often the fox seems to be facing the other way. I'm guessing post Rev -1820's?

That's a "Colonial" age button. The "Tallio" and the little fox are symbollic of fox hunting of course. I'm guessing anywhere from mid/late 1700's to early/mid 1800's, possibly a bit later but not too much. Great find. I have a cufflink just like it, only oval instead of round, found on an early 1800's site where American settlers camped while being directed to open land.

Digging friend of mine dug one of these in Stafford,Virginia and a few other diggers in the area have found them also. One was found on George Washington's property (his child hood home in Ferry Farm) an archaeologist said these date from 1790-1810

Nice find 1digger!

As already stated it must be circa 1800 give or take 10 years, & therefore be contemporary with the seemingly more common cuff links. I think its a cool find & they don't turn up very often.

I found it a foot away from an 1808 half cent, so makes sense. :)

Very nice button! Great find!

Cool button. That's one fox that didn't get away. Sweet find
