A U.S. government agency still owns a West Penn Township property, as a Schuylkill County judge on Wednesday overturned an attempted tax sale of it.

The county Tax Claim Bureau improperly did not give notice of the sale, also called an upset sale, to the Federal National Mortgage Association, also known as Fannie Mae, even though the association owned the property at 815 Lizard Creek Road, Andreas, on Sept. 25, the date of the sale, Judge Jacqueline L. Russell ruled in a 10-page opinion.

"The mandated notices were not provided to Fannie Mae," Russell wrote. "The upset sale ... will be set aside."

Russell's ruling means Fannie Mae owns the property and the bureau will have to reschedule any subsequent sale and provide the agency with notice of it.

There is another small building close to there that I think had something to do with the railroad, also a ballfield that is pretty overgrown that is owned by the sportsmens club.

Ok, I dont get it. I am new to this.

If the property gets posessed by the County for not paying taxes --you can detect it with the County's permission?

well odds are the county will say no
for many reasons. fear, greed, etc.

Ahh. Gotcha. Thx.

And, I kind of thought so.

best way to put it is

nobody asks the county if you can detect on it.

so if you call & ask, they usually prefer not to say
I don't know :dontknow:
& sound like they don't know what they are doing

& Rather then say sure go ahead

& possably get in trouble for letting you,

the in-person verbal response would probably be no.

on the phone or Email they may say they will check,
but whether they do or not, odds are still
against anyone sticking their neck out & Telling you to go ahead.

Best advice I Can suggest,
IF They have somone mowing the Property,
ask that person.

IF the property is rotting,
ask the closest neighbor if they
think anyone would mind.

or ask a cop, Township, or bourough worker
from the area.

Your odds will go up on them saying

:D go ahead :coffee2: I get half the gold you find ;D

& of course smile & say "Ya Got it" :laughing7:
