The Tejon is not multi tone. The knob changes the pitch of the tone, I like it at a higher pitch at about 3 o'clock as I feel the iron sound breaks up best. Coin shooting it does pretty good, you will see that the pin point is spot on in the center of your coil. You have a great detector there and the more you work with it, the better it gets. The single tone takes practice, but you'll be able to tell in time by the sound of it. :coffee2:

As John said, the Tejon has one tone for all types of metals, but you can change the pitch depending on how your ears can hear the pitches. While the speaker in the Tejon is high quality the best sounds come from the better headphones. I like the Black Widow's myself in the cool weather because they allow you to hear the whisper sounds or the deepest coins.

If I were just going for coins, I would want something with target I.D. Especially in a park or someplace like that. When hunting with the Tejon, my only concern is if the target is ferrous or not.

When you learn the Tejon, you will not get any more ferrous targets than any other detector.

I will agree that in parks or yards I like a TID screen, however the Tejon is a good coin shooter, but also likes pull tabs. You can discriminate them out, but then you'll lose nickles and gold. But The Tejon is an excellent detector when learned like any other.

im old school myself , im not much for screens. if you have the disc. where you want and it gives a good signal dig it .set the tone that best suit you. my hearing is not the best hUUUUUUUU yup so i run it a liitle higher pitch . pull tabs, rings , & nickels give me the same sound when i run the disc. low buttt i found that location of where you hunt with the disc. means a lot . ive been hunting a fair grounds that is loaded with pull tabs i run the the disc higher to weed out the pull tab. at a school where there is very few pull tabs i run lowerr disc maybe this will help you out some

I am kind of considering one maybe but I do like screens when it comes to coinshooting...I had a fisher 1265x once and it was a good machine and I got to know it good but it was noisey too. I can handle some noise but after a while I had to take a break from it because it would kind of drive me a little batty. Is the tejon noisey too?

Some say it is noisy, but I don't find it any more noisy then other detectors and I have a few. If you like a screen, the Deleon is a nice option. However with the dual disc of the Tejon and some practice, you would be surprised how well you'll start knowing what your going to dig before you do. Like any detector, you have to get to know it wether it has a screen or not. A person well versed with his ace 250 can out do a person with a $1000 machine and does not know how to use their high dollar detector. :coffee2:

True.... I went from an ACE 250 with the largest factory coil to the Tejon. At first I was lost and went back to the ACE for a while. Then I started to clue in with the Tejon. After a complete season with the Tejon I feel tighter with it and have made fantastic relic finds. I admit that I am still far from mastering this machine and there are still nuances\capabilities to the machine that I am not fully utilizing. I know guys that have used single tone machines for years and years and will use nothing else other than the old Fishers etc. I also know that this is a very capable machine and it is now up to me to get tight with it. If there is a weak link between the Tejon and myself, it's me. And I have been blown away by it's performance so I am willing to invest the time with it to fully utilize its capabilities.
