Hi everyone.
I have a really newbi question.
Why does the Teknetics T2 SE and the Fisher 75 Ltd look so much alike ?
As I am saving up for one "good" detector and there are some real nice machines out there but i need to pick just one...

When looking closely at the specs I can see that there are some differences in tone -ids and a few others (and of course price $$).
Do these companies share technology ?
Is the F75 Ltd still a better machine in your opinion ?
Thanks for your time..
Pete

First Texas Co. makes both detectors so yes they share technology....i think the T2 is geared a little more to relics, and the F75 is geared a little more to coins... user interface is different... both are very fine/very deep machines.

Thanks Gary, that makes sense of it. :) Yea I have a lean towards coin shooting,, Thanks Pete

The F75 has a back light. AWESOME feature with very little battery draw. 30-50 hrs on 4 AA.
F75 has a notch feature.
F75 retains settings when turned off.
F75 iron goes 1-20. T2 1-40.

Those are the main ones right off the tops of my head.

Good point about the iron resolution, but I do like the back light! As in NZ here its winter and we loose light just after 4:30pm.
Generally I like to go all metal (when I can) and just listen to what is down there. I had not actually considered battery life but that is a good point as my sand shark is always eating them up sometimes faster than I can feed it :), which can be annoying when out camping..
Cheers

As you like to go all metal when you can that should sway you towards the F75's (any version) as they have both static and motion all metal modes. The Teknetics "all metal" is motion so not quite as good for some tasks.
The F75's are not geared towards coins, in fact for ancient coins the T2 is the best, but if park hunting and you don't want to dig to much, having the extra discrimination width higher up the scale than the T2, does help with modern coins v alloy/foil identification.

Thanks Brian ! :)
Yes I must admit I will mostly be looking for modern coins. I wish we had the interesting (metallic) history of the UK/ Europe and, even the US.
We have barely 200 years of colonization here in cold NZ..
Also on the camping ground in our regional park that I often hunt in,,, it would be great to have a bit more sensitivity up higher as, I swear that I am playing follow up to, an alcoholic's picnic at times :)
many thanks
Pete

I spent a little over a month doing North Island by motorhome the other year but stuck mainly to the beaches knowing that it was a stone age culture pre colonization. Now my wife wants to emigrate but we would have to buy our way in which is not cheap ! Next trip will be a month or two round South Island. I expect the beaches are the same as the north with everything from black volcanic to beautiful golden sand. Love N.Z. though....bit like Britain in the 50's before it was ruined !

Hi Brian,
Thanks well if you can stand our weather you will be most welcome. Hey if you ever are heading past Wellington region, and need a partner to go hunting with give us a yell. May have my new detector by then, from what people are saying I think for me it may be a F75... Though a member messaged me and said don't forget about the F70.. Awe nuts more decisions :)

Buying a detector where you are is not an easy choice. I had a few top beach machines that just about worked (two inches rather than twelve plus). On the top of one beach a bloke with a Ace 250 (not high performance) was detecting as deep as another with a multi frequency Minelab Sovereign but finding more as he was covering so much more ground. Weird !

Hi Brian,
I agree, our beaches drive me nuts, no wonder the Chinese want to mine them! Oh and its as expensive as anything to buy a detector in NZ. Its actually cheaper to buy one from the US/UK and pay for the import duties. I haven't found an agent for Fisher in NZ and a Garrett dealer in NZ wants over $1300 for an AT-Pro!! Haha this seems to mean that, for what it's worth that NZ, is pretty well "undetected". Oh there are a fair few Chinese detectors here but can they really stack up against the grunt of the US/Uk detectors .. I hope not..
I have been thinking more about what you said about the enhanced iron discrimination and the T2.. I guess they are both awesome machines.. Ahhh :)

Just get the Garrett AT-PRO and you will be so happy! To answer your question both of the detectors you mentioned are made by the same company, First Texas they also do Bounty Huntr detectors.

My T2-Se eats my at pro for a snack. I love the AT for the wet environments though.

I'll chime in that I'm almost exclusively a coin shooter and the F-75 is a great coin machine. I just got mine back from the upgrade to bring it to F75LTD2 version and IT'S EVEN BETTER!

My coins are US coins and not the "hammies" and Roman coins an Englishman might find.

What does that upgrade bring on to this machine?

I do not believe they offer it anymore. If you had boost process already the upgrade was for the DST (which reduced EMI) and you fained the FA process. I believe if yoy hasd a standard F75 you could get bothe the FA and DSt and have boost added for $300, plus you had the opportunity to pay for an extended warranty.

I guess no worries then since mine has all of that. Yay
