it appears to be a gemstone type of raw stone (aka as a rock to most folks) -- maybe a raw garnet -- I like and know my stones --I found some raw garnets and a bit of raw /greenish whitish emerald while gem grubbing a bucket of stones in northern Georgia at one of the tourist trap "gold mine" spots
a professional geo type person would say a gemstone was NOT A ROCK ..but rather a gem stone ..since gem stones tend to be somewhat valuable and plain rocks aren't ---to a layman who doesn't know one from another --its just a rock
note .....in the wild..... garnets and quartz are often found close to gold bearing areas..
Treasure_Hunter, a question. What happens November 20, 2017?? LOL I even Googled it and no clue. Inquiring minds want to know!! Does it have something to do with nuclear war?
