this is the creek i walked today its at caesars creek lake off of mound rd. walls are there rocks are there out of flood plain from the original river, until they damed it. hell it even has a mound in the water where the mouth of the creek empties. but nothing.

Nice pictures, that spot sure looks promising. Creeks are really hit or miss for me, 95% miss in fact. I've yet to find a creek that produces constant rtfacts. I know there out there, but all the variables have to be in play for them to produce around here.

like thirty7 said creeks are hit or miss.I have one creek that i will atleast find a broke everytime out usually,but it is hit or miss in the creeks.keep searching,you will eventually find a good one.I look from top to bottom when looking the cut banks, if i can see earth i am checking it out.

I don't know of the creek you mentioned or where you are but if you are in an area that was heavily inhabited with known mounds then your creek should contain artifacts. How long did you spend looking and how much creek bed did you cover in that time? You may have to check the creek several times after rains, make sure to move slow... Also, don't expect to find artifacts just laying around all over the place in a creek.....they blend very well, they are buried in mud, under water, and buried under rocks. Keep looking.

I'll tell you why.
The mounds have attracted too many hunters and they cleaned it out. Just a guess, but if I knew about it I'd have to check it out.
About the weight of water. In my geology class in college the professor said that there have been manmade earthquakes from damming up rivers. I think out west.

Wait for a good gully-washer to really stir up the creek bed. Go back and look around when water recedes. Look for a point where two creeks converge with a good high bank. A likely ancient habitation.

creeks are like that some have artifacts some dont, 1 i hunt has a ton of material but ive only found 1 artifact, another has no material but ive found a dozen or so artifacts.just keep lookin...
