Relic Hunting
We have been taking advantage of the good Tennessee weather to hunt a few relics. The first pic of relics on the white background is of my hunt at a hard hunted Gen. John Hunt Morgan C.S.A. Cavalry camp. This site is special as I had 2 ancestors who camped there. The Tenn. Trio Feb. 22 (2.5 hour hunt) finds at the newly discovered U.S. picket camp are shown on the orange “Relic Rag” (courtesy of Modern Miner). Still a few relics at that site as Josh dug a coat size eagle button, Dman dug 2 more bullets, & I dug another dropped .54 bullet while we were all on the way back to the trucks to leave. During that hunt, I dug a nice carved lead nipple protector shown in the collage pic. Now, all 3 of us have dug that same exact style carved nipple protector at the picket camp. These nipple protectors kept dirt & moisture out of the firing chamber. Note the impression on the top resulting from the hammer being placed on the protector relieving pressure on the spring. I scouted some property near the U.S. picket camp on 2-24 but eventually gravitated back to the picket camp. My finds are shown on the white background. I dug my first nipple protector carved from a .69 cal. 3 ringer. Ironically, only one .69 cal. 3 ringer has been dug out of the approximately 167 relics we have dug there since 2-11. I also dug a bonus 1892 IH. HH from the Trio, Quindy.

Always enjoy seeing your videos and the wonderful relics you recover!

Glad to see another good little hunt. That .69 nipple protector is probably pretty rare in that caliber. Love it. Keep up the good work and I'll see you soon.

Nice digs Quindy! You guys have had a good start despite the weather we have had this year!

Sweet finds. That's several days if not several weeks worth of finds in the area's I've got permission to hunt.

I would occasionally watch those shows called "diggers" and other such programs until I realized what they were. Your videos are much more entertaining, keep em coming!

Wooo Hooo! Love the finds . . .Love the video . . .and of course Love the song! (Thanks for the shout-out.) Congratulations again on saving all of these finehistorical goodies!!!

Great Music ! Glad to see Morgans CSA site is still giving up a few. J.H Morgan was a very interesting character. It is as if he had his own way to fight battles. Those nipple caps are always interesting . Square then round in the back. I also find them just round and smaller. Do you ever find any caps? Nice hunt. It seems that this year with all your new sites is paying off in a big way. Enjoyed the Video and sorry you could not get anyone to hunt with you this time.

Richard, Josh & I dug sevearal caps near a picket campfire a few years ago after Doug had surgery. That was a Morgan camp as well. We got tired of digging them. They read 18-20 on the F75. HH, Q.

Q- Congrats to the Trio. You guys end up with a great collection of CW relics at every spot you hit. Two questions Sir..... 1) What happened to the Yankee tunes in your videos? ??? 2) With all of those great nipple protectors you guys are finding, I'm assuming there were women in that camp too? :dontknow: Well done Guys! -MM-

1. I canned the Yankee songs due to death threats-LOL.
2. Wrong kind of nipples MM.
We'll dig a complete Williams Cleaner for you later in the week my friend, Q.

That's much better, Q! How could anyone not love those great Southern songs, eh. Almost as good as the Rebel yell, I tell ya! Love all those finds. And I bet Josh would trade ya two of those Yankee buttons for that hook. lol WTG on the sweet finds!

Thanks for sharing...

Very nice Quindy. I love the music. The 2nd South Carolina String Band is my favorite civil war bands. If no one has ever heard of them google them and watch their video of DIXIE. Boy makes me want to get up and dance. lol Great finds there again. You are starting the year out blazing. Hope it is your best. One of my ancestors was captured at the Battle of Nashville and taken POW to Camp Chase in Ohio. I have his POW papers and his Oath of Allegiance when he was released at the end of the war. Some day I hope to hunt around Nashville and hunt where he fought. Again very nice finds and the Tennessee Trio is off to a great year.

Very nice, as all ways. Q that lead hit very hard. I'm rolling out today and see what pops out. HH.....

Thanks for all the replies guys & gals. We are still at it & should have another video next week. Thanks again & it makes the time worthwhile making the video when friends enjoy it, Q.

Nice hunt, Quindy! Coins are always a nice bonus to a relic hunter. Of course I take any piece of history I can get! It's all a sweet bonus really!

Looks like you got a nice honey hole. Great pics, keep them coming
