The Tenn. Trio and honorary Trio member Patrick Stewart traveled to South Carolina last week to hunt with the South Carolina Dirt Diggers on a very large property. We covered well over 5 miles per day in a large pine forest with undergrowth. Doug and I found musket balls and iron relics but Josh finally dug a 1700s Spanish Half Reale. Patrick had the find of a lifetime with a GWI button with plain front. The backmark had Washington & an eagle on it. From research so far, Patrick has found the 7th example known to exist. He is making a better pic soon. Ironically, it just looked like a plain flat front flat button with about 21 mm but the b/m made the difference. My article about our hunt will be published in the May W & E magazine. Enjoy the video. HH, Q.
I hoped to meet Mangrum of TNet at the hunt but we couldn’t hook up due to the vast hunt acreage.
