I have a Sandshark... What will this upgrade do for me? I don't understand it so far.

Thanks

You have the smaller bolt and wing nut assembly. The new one is larger and also requires you to drill out the ears on the coil and shaft for the stronger bolt to fit.

Sand, do you know if there's a problem with the smaller bolts or is the new H.O.T.S. coils coming out in 1/4" holes? Reason for asking is my DeLeon has two coils with the smaller plastic bolt and the Cibola has the smaller one as well although it's a metal flathead bolt with a plastic cap.

Stoney, it is my understanding that the newer machines will be having the stronger bolt assembly. Years ago I removed the brass bolts from all my detectors and used 1/4" nylon bolts and wing nuts instead of the manufactures stuff since I couldn't understand if the detector was supposed to find metal why they would place metal that close to the coil. Machines act funny with black sand in the coil cover, why not a metal bolt. It gave me more confidence anyway.

I once twisted a bread wrapper on my brother in law's 1280 coil once at the beach. Took him an hour to figure out what was going on. If you met him, you'd do it too.

HA!.....Thats a good one sandman! You really don't like that guy do you?

It's funny, I just read this and I was looking at my new used Silver and saying man, the bolt that connects the coil looks weak and thin. Funny, I'll have to order the new hardware when the stock one breaks like I know it will.

I got my new bolt, and it really holds the coil better. If anyone hasn't done it yet, be sure to order one.
