Detector(s) used
Fisher F75, Tesoro Tejon, Tesoro Mojave.
I sent my WELL used and loved Silver Umax to the Giffords because I basically broke the cord off of the coil. They replaced the coil, recalibrated the machine (hotter than ever!) and even enclosed extra coil bolts at my request. They also fixed a speaker short - and the speaker rings out loud and clear! They did all of this under warranty and the detector was back in my hands within 12 days!! My cost? "0" - nothing - notta. They are the best. "Rusty" signed my repair tag and I'd like to thank him personally for recalibrating my Umax because this machine is running very well now (I hadn't realized that it needed a tune up)

Tesoro - if you are reading this please know that your service is the reason many of us are Tesoro lifetime customers. We will always be loyal to your company and keep up the good work.

For those of you that have yet to buy a Tesoro - ask yourself this : would your detector company fix a well used 10 year old detector that you basically wore out? Didn't think so. Get a Tesoro and your investment will live on forever.

This is one of the many reasons Tesoro is a top notch manufacturer.

I agree. Tesoro goes above and beyond what is expected when it comes to service. I spoke with James on the phone a few months ago, and I was very impressed at how important customer satisfaction is to him, whether you bought the unit new or used. He is smart enough to know that if you keep a customer happy, they will return. It seems like a pretty basic concept, but a lot of companies don't follow that logic.

It's great to know that if my Cortes goes sour 10 years down the road, it will be fixed with no hassles, and no charge. Too bad Tesoro doesn't make cars. ;D ;D

DITTO !!!!! Tesoro is the only manufacturer I deal with. Has been for the last 16 years.

Rusty is the customer service manager for TESORO he is a fantastic guy to deal with More than a few times over the years I have called on him just to get his opinion on which machines are best suited to my areas of hunting. He's always been very accurate in his responses and rather that point me towards the most expensive machines he has consistantly pointed to the correct machines. Even though I am 6000 miles away from Arizona, and Rusty, he is the only guy I will talk to about upgrades, tips and trick, and repairs. As I noted in a previously he even tweaked my fathers machine to allow him to hear the tones as he was getting hard of hearing. While the Giffords are great people and have great equipment I believe Rusty is the heart and soul of that business and the reason they have such a following.

Rusty is the "BOMB". He has some very informative articles on the Tesoros' web site. b

Are you saying that a used Tesoro is still covered? Their web site says Our lifetime warranty covers defects in material and workmanship for as long as it is owned by the original purchaser. The warranty excludes batteries, damage caused by leaky batteries, cable breakage due to flexing, wear of the searchcoil housing, and leakage cause by the condition of water seals on underwater detectors. Also excluded are instruments which have been abused, altered, or repaired by an unauthorized party.

Dang man if i have a old detector to get fixed from the other detector makers they tell me things like we can not fix it we don't have the parts for that detector any more....... At lease Tesoro still have parts for their older detectors......

I cannot speak for the previously owned machines but, as far as being an original owner of several, they have consistantly gone above and beyond what I expected them to repair. My machines have been through the ringer, when one fails and meets the coverage listing I send it in. When it comes back all the other non covered problems like broken knobs and shredded coil cables have also been repaired at no cost. It's been awhile since I've done it but, when I was hunting hard core, I would send each of my machines back regardless of it operating condition just for a tune up and function check. Each time they came back completely repaired and looking like they came off the assembly line.

I realize there may be better machines out there but, the customer service is what attracted me to first go with them and is what has prevented me from even considering going with another brand nearly 15 years later.
