I ran 4 buckets of topsoil thru the screen yesterday.

Looks like I'll be going deeper.

Ive never dug but if I had I would in that spot.

It really depends on a couple of things. You should go deep enough that you know that there is no point of going any deeper (when you get deep enough that it is obvious the dirt has never been disturbed in any way). Go slightly deeper than that to be sure. Keep records so you can learn the site characteristics. IF you find something unusual or significant, maybe consider contacting someone. That will be your decision/call.
